Former U.S. Army Air Corps Master Sergeant Fabin Folmer meets JAC Senior Enlisted Leader Navy Master Chief John Frakes
Former U.S. Army Air Corps Master Sergeant Fabin Folmer, crew chief of the famed B-17 "Hells Angels" - the first B17 to complete 25 Missions during WWII meets in Osage Iowa with JAC Senior Enlisted Leader Navy Master Chief John Frakes. 91 year old Folmer recalled his time at Molesworth 1942-1943. After the plane completed 48 missions Folmer went on a war bond tour in the U.S. where he visited the movie set of of "To Have and Have Not" and was photographed with Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Hoagy Carmichel and Walter Brennan. Painting “Molesworth Dawn” by noted British aviation artist Keith Hill – Master Sergeant Folmer is pictured in this painting as the crew chief under the propeller hub with the "Hells Angels" flght jacket. The painting was commissioned by the first JAC Commander, Air Force Colonel -- later Major General -- Glen D. Shaffer. Master Sgt. Folmer autographed prints of "Molesworth Dawn" during the July 13th visit to him in his Osage, Iowa home by JAC Senior Enlisted Leader, Navy Master Chief Petty Officer John C. Frakes. The crew that Sergeant Stewart G. Hall (front row far right) served with at RAF Molesworth. The photo was taken in the U.S. before deploying to the UK. At the time of the photo the crew was slated to fly a B-24 "Liberator" bomber (shown in the photo) before they later converted to a B-17 which they flew at Molesworth. Sergeant Hall is in the front row far right. Other members of the crew and their fate after begin shot down on their first mission is a follows: 2Lt.
