501 CSW Innovator of the Month

RAF ALCONBURY, United Kingdom --  The 501st Combat Support Wing recently named the Innovator of the Month for May.

The 423rd Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Protection Flight C-shift members were recognized for replacing the printed daily rosters with electronic displays.

The daily duty rosters can change 10 times or more a day, due to firefighter reliefs within the Emergency Control Centre, medical examinations, library testing, etc. These changes to the duty crew must be annotated each time. The C-Shift members mounted one surplus television at each fire station (next to the operational staff and assistant fire chief offices) which enables all fire department employees to see what vehicles they are crewing now and during any changes throughout their shifts. Using the television screens for crews eliminates the need to print new rosters. In addition to the daily rosters, the staff doesn't need to print daily calendars and inspection sheets, as these are also displayed on the two television screens.

Installing the monitors saved at least two hours per day in printing the daily rosters every time there is a change.
