Chief Master Sgt. David W. Williamson assumed the role of command chief master sergeant for U.S. Air Forces in Europe Oct 28.

Chief Williamson comes to USAFE from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, where he was the 13th Air Force command chief.

As USAFE command chief, Chief Williamson represents the command's enlisted force and advises the commander on all matters affecting the readiness, training, professional development and effective use of the command's 36,000 assigned personnel.

He's also responsible for enlisted theater security engagement and building partnership capacity activities with 28 NATO nations and 22 Partnership for Peace countries in support of U.S. European Command's Theater Security Cooperation objectives.

"I'm excited to be here," Chief Williamson said. "I'm proud to be your wingman. USAFE Airmen have carved a long and proud legacy of success that continues to this day, and I can't help but be excited to be a part of that and the outstanding mission USAFE Airmen support every day, both at home station and in support of overseas contingency operations.

"I'm looking forward to getting out and meeting the men and women in USAFE, and learning more about what you do; and I look forward to working issues and bringing your concerns forward."

Chief Williamson, a career explosive ordinance disposal professional, has held a variety of wing- and command-level positions throughout the Air Force, in both the United States and overseas, and has served in eight major commands. Chief Williamson has deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Southern Watch, Joint Endeavor, Desert Thunder, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
