Newcomers to the 423rd Air Base Group have the opportunity to attend a free Market Town Tour hosted by the Airman and Family Readiness Center and the local Huntingdon mayor.

Melissa Still, 423rd Force Support Squadron A&FRC community readiness consultant, drives the tour bus and shares helpful information about the local area with newcomers. They get a chance to visit the local train station, post office, Cromwell Museum, and have lunch at a 15th century coaching inn.

“Newcomers will get to network with some other new personnel, get to know some of the staff at the A&FRC, enjoy a day out on the UK economy, feel more comfortable with shopping and eating out and basically getting around in a local town,” said Still.

Councillor Karl Webb, Mayor of Huntingdon, works with the 423rd ABG to provide a walking tour of Huntingdon. Webb points out hidden gems, fun facts, and historical locations. The tour also introduces newcomers to the original home of Pathfinder operations during World War II.

The tour is offered to new personnel and their dependents every three weeks, and is limited to the first eight people who sign up with the A&FRC. Children are welcome to attend, but must have a U.K. spec car seat, if necessary.

The next Market Town Tour date is Dec. 8, 2021. More dates will be available in 2022.
