RAF FAIRFORD, United Kingdom -- Lt. Col. Joseph Knothe, 420th Air Base Squadron Commander, assumed command of the 420ABS at RAF Fairford, United Kingdom, June 8, 2018.

The 420ABS is responsible for facilitating the deployment, integration and redeployment of bomber aircraft and personnel during bomber assurance and deterrence missions and other contingency operations.

Knothe is a 2002 honors graduate of Auburn University, Alabama, and a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. Knothe has served as Chief of Standardization and Evaluation at the 509th Operations Group and Deputy Director of the 8th Air Force Commander’s Action Group. Knothe is also a senior pilot with 2,200 flight hours in the B-2 and T-38 aircraft.
