Col. McNamara takes command of the 422 ABG

RAF Croughton -- Col. Bridget McNamara assumed command of the 422nd Air Base Group at RAF Croughton, July 20.

The 422nd ABG is responsible for providing world-class combat support to mission partners across the United Kingdom. It provides global communications and theater-wide data storage, and operates the only bomber forward operating location in the United Kingdom, and controls the second-largest capacity munitions facility in United States Air Forces in Europe.

McNamara graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1996, and was a Distinguished Graduate of the Reserve Officers Training Corps program. She attended Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training at Sheppard AFB, Texas, and earned her wings in 1998. Her career includes operational flying assignments in the B-1B Lancer at Mountain Home AFB Idaho, Ellsworth AFB South Dakota and Dyess AFB Texas. She has deployed multiple times in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. Colonel McNamara has held leadership positions at the squadron, wing, and Headquarters US Air Force levels. Prior to attending the US Army War College, she commanded the 21st Student Squadron, Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell AFB Alabama.

McNamara is also a Distinguished Graduate of the USAF Weapons School and a senior pilot with nearly 2400 flying hours, 630 of those in combat.
