Croughton Elementary School places birdhouses for Earth Day

In honor of Earth Month, Croughton Elementary School students did their part for Mother Nature. The RAF Croughton 422nd ABG Environmental Department organized a "Birdhouse Activity" for the entire school. Working side-by-side in multi grade (grades 2-6) groups with the help of two local carpenters and environmental personnel Shirley Tynan, Gavin Hopkins, Mark Nearn and the students created their own carpentry workshop. After the birdhouses were assembled, the kindergarten and Grade 1 students under the guidance of art teacher Mrs. Ballard painted the houses. Finally, when all was complete the entire school traveled to the RAF Croughton Nature Reserve, placed their birdhouses on a variety of trees, and even took part in a treasure hunt of questions on the Nature Trail.
