RAF ALCONBURY, United Kingdom -- Staff Sgt. Sam Lopez, 501st Combat Support Wing Regional Contracting Office, was named the February 501st Everyday Hero from the 501st Combat Support Wing staff agencies.

Lopez responsible for procuring services and commodities for 501st CSW, its tenant units, geographically separated units and mission partners. He also serves as the alternate agency/organization program coordinator (A/OPC) for the wing Government Purchase Card program. Lopez has filled in as the A/OPC for the last year because the primary position has been vacant for two years and the first alternate was on maternity leave for 10 months. He has developed and maintained a surveillance schedule, which allowed the RCO to complete a 100 percent surveillance record for the first time in five years, and is on track to achieve and exceed the Air Force standard. Lopez has also worked with all three communications squadrons to develop a Performance Work Statement for a new Cellular Phone Blanket Purchase Agreement to provide a substantial savings to the wing.
