Tech. Sgt. Luis Rivera, 423rd Security Forces Squadron standardization and evaluation NCOIC, was named the February 501st Everyday Hero from the 423rd Air Base Group.

Rivera runs the standardization and evaluation section responsible for testing and certification of more than 120 security forces members at RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth. His daily efforts ensure patrol officers are competent and confident to perform their duties, which entail securing 6,000 military and civilian personnel, 950 facilities on more than 1,000 acres and $2.3 billion in U.S./NATO intelligence and mission support assets. Rivera planned an interagency active shooter exercise at the Alconbury Middle High School. He created one of the most realistic active shooter scenario's to-date, which identified areas for improvement and set a baseline for the creation of the school's emergency action plan. The exercise also attested to the unit's ability to eliminate an existent threat.
