Everyday Hero
STAVANGER, Norway -- Susan Svendsen, 426th Air Base Squadron civilian pay administrator/accounting liaison, was named November’s 501st Combat Support Wing Everyday Hero from the 423rd Air Base Group. Svendsen oversees the Local National Direct Hire civilian payroll and leave program, implementing a paperless payroll system at Stavanger. She also reviewed the open document listing for NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre, increasing the funds available for year-end purchases, as well as coordinating the necessary documents to ensure a seamless turnover to Fiscal Year 2013. When the primary cashier was absent, Svendsen also cashed $170,000 for 42 servicemembers enabling them to pay their Norwegian rent and utility bills in a timely manner.
