Innovator of the Month Published Dec. 12, 2012 RAF CROUGHTON, United Kingdom -- The 501st Combat Support Wing recently named the Innovator of the Month for September. The 422nd Air Base Squadron Resource Management Flight merged the 420th ABS and 422nd ABS nonappropriated fund instrumentalities, saving nearly $141,000 in morale, welfare and recreation funds for use to improve quality of life at 422nd Air Base Group installations. The larger footprint enabled the 420th ABS to secure $69,000 in matching special project program funds to support quality of life renovations of nonappropriated fund facilities at RAF Fairford, after a pre-merger denial of funding. The merger also enables increased oversight of nonappropriated fund property and facilities worth $2.1 million for which the 420th ABS was not manned, and the 422nd ABS can provide without driving an increase in added manpower.
