AFN Europe had two unrelated technical issues that caused unscheduled radio and TV outages the last few days.

Some viewers lost AFN TV signals Sept. 22 and 23 when a technical problem resulted in some decoder owners losing decoder authorization. A second unrelated issue happened Sept. 24, when the unit providing power to the AFN Europe Headquarters in Mannheim, Germany, failed. This in turn caused an AFN TV outage, as well as knocking AFN radio stations off the air in Germany and Belgium. AFN station signals are routed through the headquarters building to satellite and then satellite back down to local radio transmitters. The outage was from 7:40 a.m. to noon Central European Time.

If your service is still out and you own or rent an AFN decoder, go to www.afneurope.net or AFN Europe's Facebook site for complete details on how to restore service.

If your service is still out and you get your AFN TV on base from a cable provider, contractors are working now to restore service.

If you need further assistance, you may also post a message on AFN's Facebook site or send AFN an e-mail on the feedback tab of afneurope.net. Viewers may also call (0049) (0)621-46085-444 to report outages or ask for help, but lines are frequently busy because of the high volume.

AFN anticipates another short outage Sept. 24 to 25 as tests are run on the power unit that failed. AFN deeply regrets the inconvenience.
