The 2012 Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas began Sept. 17 with Gen. Philip M. Breedlove, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and U.S. Air Forces Africa commander, offering the first donation within USAFE.

"What's important for us all to know is that our contributions can make a significant impact in someone's life," said Breedlove. "This doesn't just stop with taking care of Airmen, retirees and civilians also benefit from CFC contributions."

CFC-Overseas takes place through Nov. 16. Military personnel and federal employees can donate to more than 2,500 local, national and international charities through the campaign. Last year, donations from USAFE alone totaled $1.94 million.

"While everyone may not be in a position to contribute, I ask those who are able for your consideration and generosity as we follow this year's motto, 'Give Because We Care,'" said Col. Brian Kelly, 501st Combat Support Wing commander.

CFC-Overseas is currently the only authorized avenue for charitable organizations to solicit to Department of Defense uniformed service members and civilian employees stationed abroad.

Contributions can range anywhere from $1 per month for a single charity to a one-time donation for multiple charities.

"The CFC has made donating even easier this year by developing an online donation tool on its Web site," said Kelly. "The Web site also lists all of the available CFC charities and provides additional information."
