Margaret Brittain and Moira Sands, 501st Combat Support Wing Regional Contracting Office, were named the June 501st Everyday Hero from the 501st CSW Staff.

They are responsible for managing the Procurement Defense Desktop contracting writing system enabling $14 million in contracts actions annually.

They were instrumental in helping to implement an Air Force-wide server and system upgrade to the Procurement Defense Desktop, the largest of its kind since the introduction of PD2. They meticulously worked 12 hour days for five days straight to ensure a smooth and successful transition and mitigated any delays to ensure minimal impact to the contracting mission.

In addition to the server upgrade, they were required to transition the whole office from Window XP to Windows 7, which encompassed backing up every buyer's computer, documents and e-mail PST files one person at a time. Where at least three other USAFE contracting offices were delayed up to three weeks and paralyzing their operations, Mrs. Brittain and Mrs. Sands attention to detail dedication enabled a complete system upgrade and change in operating systems within the scheduled five days.
