Cesar Ponce, Senior Airman John Westover, Airman 1st Class Eric Walden and Airman 1st Class Nicholas Lindquist were named the May 501st Everyday Heroes from the 422nd Air Base Group. RAF ALCONBURY, United Kingdom -- Staff Sgt. Cesar Ponce, Senior Airman John Westover, Airman 1st Class Eric Walden and Airman 1st Class Nicholas Lindquist were named the May 501st Everyday Heroes from the 422nd Air Base Group.

The Airmen are assigned to the 422nd Communications Squadron's Cable and Antenna System's team. The team recently saved the government $5,000 in repair fees by fixing an alarm system at RAF Welford, which protects more than $10 million in assets. The technicians were able to pinpoint several faults along more than 3,500 feet of copper cable.

They were able to rebuild three splices to the cable and restore 100 percent service to the alarm system.
