RAF ALCONBURY, United Kingdom -- Staff Sgt. Jackie Hammond, 422nd Security Forces Squadron, was named the January 501st Everyday Hero from the 422nd Air Base Group.

Hammond is responsible for issuing, maintaining and safeguarding all security forces equipment and vehicles. He was able to save the squadron $26,000 by modifying the body armor worn by base Defenders.

Hammond's strong sense of leadership is consistently on display, recently hosting a mentorship and suicide prevention seminar with the squadron's Airmen.
