RAF ALCONBURY, United Kingdom -- Master Sgt. John Orth, 421st Air Base Squadron, was named the December 501st Everyday Hero from the 421st Air Base Group.

Orth leads a six-person personal property and customs office, which supports more than 3,800 people in the RAF Menwith Hill community. His team counsels personnel on transportation entitlements, coordinates documentation for customs clearance, certifies household goods for U.S. customs, and expedites priority cargo.

Orth saved the Air Force thousands of dollars in storage fees by working with Her Royal Majesty's Revenue and Customs office expediting the release of shipping containers.
