October is Stamp Collecting Month Published Oct. 7, 2011 By Menwith Hill APO RAF MENWITH HILL, United Kingdom -- October is well known for two popular holidays. One is Halloween for the kids to dress like ghouls and goblins, and the other celebrates the discovery of America with Columbus Day. But have you heard about stamp collecting month sponsored by the United States Postal Service? If you're looking forward to this event you should come to your local Post Office to see what you can do to win newly received collectable items. All items will be given away throughout the month. Please come put your name in the raffle box located in the lobby. Just to name a few of the prizes, there are three collectible framed stamps with pictures of Bart Simpson, Apollo 11 40th Anniversary First Man on the Moon, and the History of Santa Claus. There will also be opportunities to win other great prizes, so keep your eyes open and please join in the fun!
