422 ABG says thank you to Airmen Published Sept. 9, 2011 By Senior Airman Joel Mease 501st Combat Support Wing Public Affairs RAF CROUGHTON, United Kingdom -- An Airmen Appreciation Day was held here Sept. 2 for all Airmen, civil service workers, and their families. The Croughton Top Three started the event as a way to say thank you to everyone in the community, said Master Sgt. Leigh-Ann Stout, 422nd Communications Squadron. "It's hopefully going to be an annual event where all Airmen with a big 'A' can share in our sense of pride," Stout said. "This is a small community where everyone tends to get to know each other, after the PCS season this event also helps us get to know our new Airmen as well." Besides Airmen from RAF Croughton, RAF Fairford and RAF Welford coming together, this was also designed to be fun. "We didn't want a typical 'mandatory-fun' event," Stout said. "We wanted something people would genuinely be excited about." On tap for the day included free food, door prizes for E-4s and below, live entertainment all the way from Liverpool, paintball and many other events families could enjoy. Airmen at the event were happy to be a part of the event. "This was a great idea," Airman 1st Class Bryan Krawl, 422nd CS said. "This base has such a small-town feel to it, so I think it's nice to do things like this."
