AF makes policy change to CSA personal usage Published Aug. 31, 2011 By Senior Airman Joel Mease 501st Combat Support Wing Public Affairs RAF ALCONBURY, United Kingdom -- Effective immediately the Controlled Spend Account Card can no longer be used for personal use. "This decision was based on feedback from Air Force leadership, general counsel, Defense Travel Management Office and the General Services Administration," said Master Sgt. Antonio Walker, 501st Combat Support Wing Financial Management superintendent. "Based on that feedback, the CSA can only be used for expenses related to official government travel." After completion of official travel, members can obtain their residual balance one of four ways: 1. Electronic transfer to a personal account through Citi's online access system or by calling them directly 2. Request a check by calling Citi 3. Wait for a check to be automatically mailed after 60 days of inactivity on the account 4. Withdraw the money from an ATM with a two percent fee "The easiest option is to transfer the residual balance from the CSA to a personal checking or savings account through Citi's online access system," Walker said. "Once the member is registered they can click 'My Card Account' then 'Request Refund', and type in the amount the member wants to request into the account." A transfer can take three business days to occur.
