Actions to take in a furlough Published April 8, 2011 By 501st Combat Support Wing Public Affairs RAF Alconbury -- The following information is provided to members of the 501st Combat Support Wing to lay out expectations in the event of a government shutdown. Military members: Military members are not subject to a furlough, and will still come to work at their scheduled duty time. Appropriated Fund employees: Appropriated fund employees are subject to furlough, but must still report to work at the normal time to receive information regarding their status and actions during the furlough. Upon arriving at work, immediately contact your supervisor for guidance. General Service civilian employees: General Service (GS) civilian employees are subject to furlough, but must still report to work at the normal time to receive information regarding their status and actions during the furlough. Upon arriving at work, immediately contact your supervisor for guidance. Non-Appropriated Fund employees: Non-appropriated fund civilian employees are not subject to a furlough, and will still come to work. Ministry of Defence employees: Ministry of Defence employees are not subject to a furlough and will still come to work. Contractors: All contractors performing on-going contract work will still execute those contracts, and that in most cases, all local-national direct and indirect hires will still come to work. All personnel should have ensured that their chain of command has good contact information for them, in the event a recall, or other reason to contact personnel, should occur. Currently, the Defense Commissary Agency, and all of its stores, will close in the event of a government shutdown. The Army and Air Force Exchange Service stores and service stations will be unaffected by a government shutdown and continue operating. Also unaffected will be the Department of Defense Education Activity schools, otherwise known as DoDDS schools. The 501st CSW web site will continue to be updated as new information becomes available. In the event of a government shutdown, a special page will be created with information regarding affected services and facilities at each installation.
