Combined Federal Campaign allows opportunity to give back

The Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O), the annual giving drive for the Department of Defense, announced a $15.7 million campaign goal this week.

The campaign kicks off Oct. 4 and continues through Dec. 3 at all five overseas combatant commands. During the campaign season, uniformed and civilian personnel can contribute to help people in need in military communities, across the nation and around the world. The campaign is managed by Global Impact.

"Uniformed and civilian personnel are seeing the need every day through their service to our nation," said Renée S. Acosta, President and CEO, Global Impact. "Due to their generosity, last year's campaign provided more than $15.6 million to support the important work of charities around the world. This year, our goal is to raise $15.7 million because the needs are greater than ever."

The campaign features more than 2,300 charities from which contributors can choose a cause that matches their individual passion. The CFC-O offers contributors the opportunity to give using the traditional paper Pledge Card or through e-Giving at www.cfcoverseas.org. Contributors who are interested in supporting their local overseas military communities can make a contribution to the Family Support and Youth Programs (FSYP). Donations to FSYP are returned to the installation to support quality of life programs for overseas service members and their families.

"Our goal is for every member of the 501st Combat Support Wing to be given the opportunity to participate in the 2010 CFC-O," said Master Sgt. Cheryl Nolan, 501st CSW CFC-O coordinator. "If you have never participated in the campaign, please join us. If you have given in the past, I thank you for your support and invite you to participate again this year."
