United States Air Force Staff Sgt. Ian M.G. Redding from the Intelligence and Knowledge Development Directorate-Molesworth (IKD-M) won the Air Force Association's 2010 William H. Pitsenbarger Award for his outstanding achievements. Redding not only stands out as a stellar performer and supervisor, but also volunteers regularly in his community and sponsors a child in the Philippines.

The Pitsenbarger Award is a $400 check presented to selected top Air Force enlisted personnel graduating from the Community College of the Air Force who pursue a baccalaureate degree. The award is based on distinguished activity encompassing leadership, teamwork, citizenship, community service, dedication, personal development and academic achievement, along with a commander's endorsement.

"It is quite an honor to win this award," Redding said. "Education should be a priority for all Air Force members and it is great that the Air Force Association helps enlisted members along in what can be a challenging and time consuming goal."

"Staff Sergeant Redding is setting an outstanding example for our enlisted force, both in the work center and the classroom," said IKD-M's Senior Enlisted Leader, United States Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Scott W. Lumpkin. "Today, one of the best ways to get ahead in the Air Force is to get a good education, and he is certainly doing that."

Redding is a few hours away from completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and then plans to pursue a master's degree in International Relations.
