Excellence in Analysis is as critical for the JIOCEUR Analytic Center (JAC) today as it was for then First Lieutenants Carlton Smith and Peter Curry as intelligence officers with the 303rd Bomb Group (Heavy), U. S. Army Air Corps at Molesworth 1942-1945.  Smith served as the Group Photo Interpreter doing bomb damage assessment of raids on Nazi Germany and briefing aircrews.  Curry was assigned as an intelligence officer , briefing and debriefing aircrews.  Smith remained on active duty through Vietnam and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.  JAC annual awards for analytical excellence are named after the two intelligence officers of the 303rd.

Marine Colonel Pete Devlin, JAC Commander presented the JAC's Annual Lt. Col Carlton Smith Award, and Lt. Peter Curry awards at an All Hands Call on January 8th.  Winning the Lt. Col Carton Smith award for 2009 was Ms. Anne W. Buelow.  Air Force Master Sergeant Teresea M. Stiner was awarded the 1Lt. Peter Curry award.  Both distinguished themselves by analytical excellence in support of the JAC mission.

Navy Capt Larry Stein, JAC Director of Intelligence noted:  "We are extremely proud to honor the oustanding accomplishments of Ms. Buelow and Master Sgt. Stiner.  I would also commend the other fine nominees for these awards who, like the winners, represent the amazing corps of analysts that I am privileged to lead here at the JAC"
