Happy Thanksgiving Team USAFE Published Nov. 24, 2009 By Gen. Roger A. Brady U.S. Air Forces in Europe commander RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- We are approaching a very special time of the year, a time of celebration and reflection and a time traditionally spent with family and friends. I encourage everybody to enjoy their time off. I also encourage everyone to remember their responsibilities as a wingman and their duty to make responsible choices in their leisure time. During the Thanksgiving Holiday, I ask all of you to consider how one bad choice, whether it be excessive alcohol, excessive speed, driving while distracted or just simply forgetting to wear your seatbelt can forever alter the memory of the holiday season for your friends and family. Even routine actions like cooking a holiday dinner can involve risks if we do not take appropriate precautions. I truly hope everybody has a joyful Thanksgiving, but in reality, I know this time can be stressful and lonely for some. Now is the time to step up to our duty as wingmen and reach out to those in USAFE who are unable to be with their friends and loved ones. Throughout my career I am constantly reminded that the Air Force is a second family, and we have a long tradition of taking care of our own. Finally, please take a moment to remember and give thanks to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen who are deployed in harm's way and separated from their loved ones this holiday season. The best way we can honor their sacrifices is to make smart choices and ensure we are all here to maintain the strength of this great team. Thank you for your service and sacrifices; enjoy the holidays and remember: Your Life- Your Choice- Choose Wisely.
