October 1 marked the first anniversary of the Intelligence Knowledge Development Directorate (IKD-M) at Royal Air Force (RAF) Molesworth, and in one year the command has already achieved many accomplishments and much success.

IKD-M belongs to U.S. Africa Command (US AFRICOM) which was stood up two years ago to work with other U.S. government agencies and international partners to conduct sustained security engagement through military-to-military programs, military sponsored activities, and other military operations as directed to promote a stable and secure African environment in support of U.S. foreign policy.

The day began early with a formation run at 6:30 a.m. led by Senior Enlisted Advisor, Senior Master Sgt. Thomas F. Good.

"This is going to be a great day," said Good. "Now let's get out there and get it started right."

After the run the group joined the rest of their coworkers for breakfast that was brought in by the IKD-M Spouse's Group.

Several military members spoke about their experiences while being a part of IKD-M.

Army Staff Sgt. Katelyn Ventura said, "Being on the ground in Africa was the most rewarding experience I have ever had." "The Africans welcomed us and truly wanted to learn from us."

Marine Sgt. Marcus Voshell, said "Everything is flowing well and we just need to keep rolling with the punches and continue the good work."

Family members came out in the afternoon to hear what their loved ones do at work and why it is so important from the Commander of IKD-M, Col. Robert Stiegel.

"You have accomplished so much in a short time," said Stiegel. "I am so proud to be a part of this team and you should be too."

Mr. Terry Ford, Director for Intelligence Knowledge Development, Stuttgart, Germany also addressed the group.

"It is so nice to see so many spouses here today," said Ford. "My hat is off to each and every one of you for the support you provide." "Your husbands and wives have achieved a lot already, but it is time we roll up our sleeves and continue to work on our mission."

The afternoon ended with cake and punch which was also provided by the spouse's group.
