Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) Visits JAC and IFC

On January 26, Ms. Tina W. Jonas, Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) visited the JIOCEUR Analytic Center and the Intelligence Fusion Centre in support of NATO at Royal Air Force Molesworth, England. Ms. Jonas serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Defense and oversees DoD financial management activities, including a budget of over $400 billion. Her responsibilities include developing and implementing DoD - wide financial policy, financial management systems, and business modernization.

Marine Colonel Peter H. Devlin, Commander of the JAC and Mr. Robert T. Hunt, EUCOM Assistant Director of Intelligence hosted Ms. Jonas and DoD Deputy Assistant Comptroller, Mr. Kevin Scheid during a review of the JAC mission and analytic production capabilities. Navy Captain Joseph Hoeing, Acting Chief of the new Africa Command's Intelligence and Knowledge Development, represented that command in the discussions with Ms. Jonas on the development of analytic capability as AFRICOM stands up.

Following the visit to the JAC, Ms. Jonas visited the Intelligence Fusion Centre in support of NATO - also located on RAF Molesworth. Army Colonel James E. Cashwell, IFC Commander and Royal Air Force Wing Commander Paul Stewart, IFC Deputy Commander outlined the mission and accomplishments of the organization which recently achieved full operating capability with representatives from twenty NATO nations. The United States is the NATO framework nation for the IFC.

The visit to the RAF Molesworth units and to other theater analytic organizations contributed to Ms. Jonas understanding of EUCOM support to warfighters and decisionmakers. The President's budget was submitted to Congress on February 4th and Ms. Jonas testified on the DoD Budget with Secretary of Defense Dr. Robert M. Gates on February 6th.
