Following two outstanding weeks of MTSL games, the third week gave way to pitfalls and trip ups at seemingly every turn, but pulled out of its slump with a revitalizing finish by the weekend's arrival.

The rock solid IFC arrived at 5pm on Tuesday, September 25th in full force, bring to the field a full roster of players with substitutes to spare. Unfortunately for their competitors, team Molesworth United, the same could not be said. At the start of the clock, Molesworth United had no alternative but to forfeit when less than six members of their team were present. IFC won by default. Regardless of the turnout, (and the spectacularly rainy weather) the players from both teams joined together for a friendly match which would not count toward the league statistics.

By the time 6:00 PM rolled around, the second game was scheduled to commence. The friendly match halted its playing to hear from the referees if the field needed cleared. An unsettling coincidence occurred where both expected teams, Alpha's Anonymous and Average Toes, had failed to turn up with more than six players on either side. No winner could be determined from a double default, and as such, the game was rescheduled. Once the decision was made, the friendly match was given the field to continue their game with the addition of a few red and yellow jerseys.

On Friday, September 28th at 5:00 PM, a new referee stood on the field anticipating a repeat of Tuesday afternoon. Exceeding expectations, the reliable IDX arrived in all their green glory and were met on the field by numerous Alpha's Anonymous sporting radiant red. It was a great turn around for the Alpha's Anonymous from their previous shortcoming earlier in the week. It became evident by the end of the match though, that the Alpha's were only managing one miracle at a time, and the IDX had a thrilling second win scoring eight goals against zero.

After a three team slump the league was able to pull it back together by the end of the third week, returning the MTSL to its former splendor, and bringing back the usual excitement and anticipation it had been missing. Having completed nearly half of the season, the league underdogs and all-stars have started to take shape. Continue reading the next issue of MTSL to keep tabs on the seven teams and who will climb to the top, and who will get crushed underfoot.
