Exercise Tiger tragedy remembered during Cambridge ceremony
MADINGLEY, United Kingdom – Members of the 423rd Air Base Group and its mission partners stand in formation during a ceremony at Cambridge American Cemetery, in Madingley, United Kingdom, commemorating the 69th anniversary of the Exercise Tiger tragedy April 23. In all 749 American Soldiers and Sailors died April 27, 1944, during one of several assault rehearsals in exercise Tiger conducted at Slapton Sands on the Devon coast of England in preparation for the launch of Operation Overlord.
