RAF CROUGHTON, United Kingdom - The 422nd Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department and 422nd Air Base Squadron Lodging Office were recently named the 501st Combat Support Wing’s Innovator of the Month for December. After the 422nd ABS Lodging Office was notified of a pending demolition of contingency dorms at RAF Fairford, they constructed a plan to salvage the existing card key locks as they are the same type in use at RAF Croughton. There is not a locksmith at RAF Fairford so the 422nd CES fire department assisted with cutting the locks out of the doors. The teamwork between the 422nd ABS and 422nd CES helped foster a collaborative work environment and built rapport between the units, while diverting material from the solid waste stream--capturing the intent of the reduce, reuse and recycle program.
