Village remembers, honors bravery of Airmen
UPPER HEYFORD, United Kingdom – Kathy McGuire, widow of Maj. David “Mike” McGuire, pauses after placing a wreath at a memorial marker for her husband and Capt. Jerry Lindh Sept. 16. The village of Upper Heyford, United Kingdom, held an Act of Commemoration for Lindh and McGuire, who died Sept. 17, 1992, when they decided to fly their crippled F-111E away from the villages of Upper Heyford and North Aston instead of ejecting.
