Village remembers, honors bravery of Airmen
UPPER HEYFORD, United Kingdom – Brig. Gen. John Quintas, the Defense Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in London talks about Capt. Jerry Lindh, 55th Fighter Squadron F-111E pilot, and Maj. David “Mike” McGuire, 55th FS F-111E navigator, during an Act of Commemoration. The village of Upper Heyford, held the ceremony for Lindh and McGuire who died Sept. 17, 1992, when they decided to fly their crippled F-111E away from the villages of Upper Heyford and North Aston instead of ejecting. “Mike and Jerry were my friends and comrade-in-arms and their spirit lives on in the Airmen of today,” said Quintas.(U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt.
