Rare Tiger I leaves RAF Alconbury for U.S.
RAF ALCONBURY, United Kingdom – One of only six Tiger I tanks left in the world was loaded onto a flatbed truck for transport to the National Armor and Cavalry Museum at Fort Benning, Ga., Sept. 10. The tank was stored at RAF Alconbury during litigation to have it on display at the museum. Tiger I is a German heavy tank developed in 1942 and used in World War II.
