501 CSW Everyday Hero
RAF ALCONBURY, United Kingdom -- Tony Keen, 423rd Air Base Squadron, was named July’s 501st CSW Everyday Hero from the 423rd ABS. Keen, 423rd Civil Engineer Squadron heavy equipment operator, implemented a recycled water plan for equipment cleanup which saved water during the recent drought. He also executed a base-wide gulley/storm drain repair program, which protected the base from flash flooding threat/damage. In addition to protecting the base, Keen helped save the life of a 3-year-old girl in Alconbury Village. When he noticed her turning blue, he immediately rushed over to her and began performing the Heimlich maneuver which dislodged a piece of chicken from her throat. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt.
