Shepherd John Dagg and ‘Shiela” who found survivors of the B17G Crash in 1944
Shepherd John Dagg and his collie dog ‘Shiela” who found several of the survivors of the crash of a B-17G during a blizzard December 16, 1944, in the Cheviot Hills of England. It was from this B-17 that a machine gun found by hikers in 2008 was returned to RAF Molesworth on November 9th. After the war one of ‘Sheila’s puppies was transported by the RAF to the parents of Sgt. Frank Turner who perished in the crash. Photo courtesy of 303rd Bomb Group Association.
