Northumbria Police Sergeant Kevin Smith, with U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Elizabeth H. Payne, Assistant JAC Historian at a ceremony November 9th where a machine gun from a B-17 Flying Fortress was returned to RAF Molesworth almost 66 years after it left on a combat mission on December 16, 1944 and crashed in the Cheviot Hills.
