Staff Sgt. Joseph G. "Zip" Zsampar, U.S. Army (Front row, far right) was a member of the crew of Capt Ross C. Bales. He was killed when the B-17F Flying Fortress was shot down over the North Sea on May 14, 1943. The visit on September 25, 2009 of Ms. Louise Smedley-Hampson commemorated the life of Staff Sgt.
