Young Japanese Americans volunteered to serve as linguists in the Military Intelligence Service
Young Japanese Americans volunteered to serve as linguists in the Military Intelligence Service during World War II - at the same time as many of their parents were "evacuated" to internment camps. Dr. James C. McNaughton, Command Historian, U. S. European Command described his research with some of the more than 6,000 Nisei who served in intelligence during and after the war in a talk at RAF Molesworth on June 5th. Dr. McNaughton is the author of the book. "Nisei Linguists: Japanese Americans in the Military Intelligence Service during WWII" published by the U.S. Army Center of Military History.
