Landing Ship, Tank 306 (LST-306) shortly after she landed on Utah beach
Landing Ship, Tank 306 (LST-306) shortly after she landed on Utah beach on 6 June 1944 during the invasion of Normandy. It was on this ship that now retired Chief Radioman Joe Pearson took his first trip to this beach under fire on D-Day. The Chief, who now lives in England near RAF Molesworth, returned in far more pleasant circumstances on September 27, 2008 as an honored participant in the dedication of the U.S. Navy Memorial to the landing.
