  • Bomber Task Force Europe

    Two B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers from the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, operating out of RAF Fairford, England, returned from flights over the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, focused on integration and interoperability training with European allies and partners in the region, Sept. 16, 2020. The flight included long-planned training with Hellenic Air Force F-16, Italian Air Force Eurofighters, Royal Air Force Eurofighters and U.S. Navy P-8 aircraft. KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft from 100th Air Refueling Wing enabled the long-range strategic Bomber Task Force Europe mission by providing aerial refueling support.

    U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Carl Joseph “CJ” Spatz III, a retired air traffic controller and facility manager was diagnosed with a brain tumor March 25, 2019. CJ and his wife, Angela Spatz, 423rd Force Support Squadron work and family life consultant, were expecting their first baby when they received the news.

    U.S. Africa Command Directorate for Intelligence at RAF Molesworth partnered with the American Battle Monuments Commission Cambridge American Cemetery to conduct Operation TORCH-2020, a memorial cleanup at six U.S. military World War II sites across England, Aug. 15, 2020. This effort commemorated the 75th anniversary of Victory over Japan (V-J) Day and the end of WWII.

    As Europe celebrated the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, military families learned about its significance through an educational initiative hosted by the 423rd Force Support Squadron, May 8, 2020, at RAF Alconbury, England. While keeping with COVID-19 physical distancing guidelines, the self-guided walking tour on base was geared toward teaching children and families the events that led to the end of World War II as they exercised.
  • RIAT 2019 showcases U.S. commitment to NATO alliance

    The world’s largest military air show brought nations from all over the world to RAF Fairford for the Royal International Air Tattoo July 19-21.  RIAT 2019 commemorated 70 years since the formation of NATO, and 50 years since the first manned moon landing. The three-day event saw more than 175,000 attendees and 245 different aircraft from 39 air arms, which represented 25 nations. From those nations, 48 air chiefs or their representatives attended the show.
